IPFS LETTER ON SRILANKA ISSUE

Date: 10.06.2009

To

The Honourable Prime Minister,

New Delhi.

Respected Sir,

We all know how lakhs of Tamils in SriLanka are facing untold miseries, pain, agony, sorrow and are in an unguaranteed living conditions, fleeing their native areas unmindful of the properties they enjoyed. We don’t stand for any terrorist activities. Whereas we are deadly against terrorism and any sort of violence. But we are in the plight of humbly pointing -out you that the very action of SriLankan government there at SriLanka is misinterpreted and misunderstood by the government of India. The entire version of the state of affairs at SriLanka, as given by Mr.Rajapakse government, is taken or believed as such by his words alone. Whereas, the real state of affairs in the war- torn areas present a different and sorrowful picture. Totally our government is misinformed about the happenings in SriLanka, where Mr.Rajapakse's army has killed thousands of innocent Tamils in the name of curbing terrorism or L.T.T.E.

In this context, as we feel, this issue of Lankan Tamils that involves and intermingles with the lives of crores of Tamil who live in India and throughout the world, has the danger of harming the very integrity of our nation if handled in an immature, biased or in a rash manner based on wrong information. The very fabric of Indian nation may get dented because of the mishandling of this situation. So, in order to assess the real or actual situation that prevails at SriLanka, in order to get the first hand experience of the actions of SriLankan army and the sufferings of Lankan Tamil, a fact finding mission led by our former president Dr.A.P.J Abdulkalam and a few other patriotic members of TamilNadu and other like-minded social welfare organizations shall be arranged to visit SriLanka. Dr.A.P.J. Abdulkalam, who is also a great humanist and Tamil in origin can help your government and our nation in presenting the real situation at SriLanka, genuinely. Based on his findings our government shall take steps to redress the grievances of the Tamils. Requesting you to consider our plea in urgent, that will surely help us in building our nation strong and that’ll lit the lives of suffering Lankan Tamils
